The Korkyra Baroque Festival is a high-profile cultural event established in 2012 to promote local and international musical and cultural heritage.
The concerts in historic venues in and around the town of Korčula, as well as new regional locations: the Island of Vrnik, Orebić, Ston, Trpanj, Vela Luka, Blato, Pupnat, Smokvica, Hvar, Ploče and Dubrovnik, create a unique synergy and Baroque magic, which make the Korkyra Baroque Festival renown as a staple cultural event of the global music scene.
The Eighth Korkyra Baroque Festival, lasting from 31st August to 14th September 2019, will once again host prestigious international and domestic ensembles and soloists, specialists in the performance of baroque music. We proudly present our guests from Denmark: Ensemble Odyssee, La Ritirata (Spain), Plaisirs de Musique (Czech Republic), Musica Batavia (Netherlands), Monteverdi String Band (United Kingdom), I musicali affetti (Italy), as well as renowned soloists: Krešimir Stražanac; bariton, Monika Cerovčec; sopran, Sonja Runje; mezzosopran, Anabela Barić; sopran, Franko Klisović; countertenor and conductor and harpsichordist Aapo Häkkinen.
These talented foreign artists will be joined by the resident ensemble of the festival, the Croatian Baroque Ensemble with distinguished violinist and Festival’s Artistic Director, Laura Vadjon.
